The
Miraculous Medal and Rosary
(Also known as the Medal of the
Immaculate Conception)
On November 28 of 1830, The Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to Saint
(Sister) Catherine Laboure with a "Mission from God". She instructed the
novice nun to have a very special medal cast in Her image. Part of the
medal shows the Blessed Virgin Mary standing above the Earth with rays
of grace radiating from the rings on her fingers in a multitude of
colors. When asked about the colors, the Blessed Virgin Mary explained
that the colors symbolize the graces She obtains for those who ask. Some
of the rings were dark because no one had asked for those particular
graces.
This rosary, made with multicolored rainbow crystal beads, is meant to
remind us of the graces which the Blessed Virgin Mary promises and
bestows so generously to the Faithful.
All we need do is ask.
As the words about the border of the medal read,
"O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us
who have recourse to Thee." |
