The Rosary and the Scapular
Two of the most acclaimed and honored
personal Sacramentals of the church, combined.
Our Lady of Mount Carmel presented these gifts to Saint Dominic and
Saint Simon Stock with promises of redemption to those who faithfully
carried our Her directives.
Pray the rosary daily and carry or wear the scapular always. This rosary
combines these Sacramentals to remind us of our duties, as presented by
the Blessed Virgin Mary in order to obtain the graces of Our Lord in
heaven. The scapular centerpiece is not meant to replace the brown
scapular, but to remind us of its importance. Blue pearl beads
stand for truth and represent the virtue of hope. The white
pearl beads stand for purity, peace and the Holy Spirit. The crucifix
displays the IHS sign of
"Jesus", formed from the first three
letters of his Greek name
IHSOUS.
These Greek letters translate into English
letters as iota ("I") eta ("H") sigma ("S")
omnicron ("O") upsilon ("U") and sigma ("S"), IHSOUS.
