How to pray the
Holy Communion Chaplet
This chaplet consists of 22
beads, a centerpiece and Crucifix.
Traditionally recited to prepare for mass.
On the Crucifix, pray 1 Act of Contrition (Optional):
O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended
Thee and I detest all my sins because of Thy just punishments, but most
of all because I have offend Thee, my God, who art all-good and
deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy grace,
to sin no more and to avoid the near occasions of sin.
On the first bead above the Crucifix, pray 1 Act of Faith:
O my God, I firmly believe that You are one God in
three Divine Persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; I believe that Your
Divine Son became man and died for our sins, and that He will come to
judge the living and the dead. I believe these and all the truths which
the Holy Catholic Church teaches because You revealed them, who can
neither deceive nor be deceived.
On the second bead above the Crucifix, pray 1 Act of Hope:
O my God, relying on Your infinite goodness and
promises, I hope to obtain pardon of my sins, the help of Your grace and
life everlasting, through the merits of Jesus Christ, my Lord and
Redeemer.
On the Third bead above the Crucifix, pray 1 Act of Charity:
O my God, I love You above all things, with my
whole heart and soul, because You are all-good and worthy of all love. I
love my neighbor as myself for the love of You. I forgive all who have
injured me, and I ask pardon of all whom I have injured.
On the Centerpiece, pray
1 Glory Be and Recite Your Petition |
In the loop of 19 Beads, repeat this set of 4 prayers:
1 Hail Mary, 1 Our Father, 1 Memorare Prayer and
1 Glory Be
The Memorare:
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never
was it known that anyone who fled to Thy protection, implored Thy help,
or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this
confidence, I fly unto Thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to Thee I
come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word
Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in Thy mercy hear and answer
me. Amen.
On the Centerpiece, recite the last prayer
1 Glory Be
and recite Your Petition
