The significance of the beads and colors
The white opal beads symbolize innocence and
purity. They are slightly transparent, like the clouds in the sky on a clear
day. The findings and key are made of gold, to represent the gold of which
the Gates and City of Heaven are formed.
The Key of Saint Peter is
inscribed with the words "Ubilaeum 2000", a memento of Jubilee
2000. An image of the Basilica in Rome that bears his name adorns the
round handle. It is inscribed with the words "A. Pietro", which
stands for the Apostle Peter. He was the first Pope and the Apostle that
Jesus called the "rock", upon which He would build His church.
Saint Peter holds the keys to the gates of Heaven.
All we need to
get there is faith, hope, love - and prayer. The treasures are not material
riches, but the love we have gathered from, and given to each
other along the way.
