The Face of Jesus Rosary Center

The Ecce Homo Rosary Center

The Face of Jesus is also referred to as "Ecce Homo" or Behold the Man. These words were said by Pontius Pilate during the trial of Jesus. The image on the rosary center was taken from a painting by Rembrandt entitled "Ecce Homo", painted in 1634. The anguish on His face can be seen easily in the deeply molded three dimensional image.

Before Jesus was taken before Pilate for trial, He had already been stripped of His outer clothing and severely beaten by Roman soldiers. The image shows a crown of thorns was already placed on His head. During those times, prisoners were often beaten before their trials, especially if it was thought they were irreverent or defiant by the Roman guards.

The reverse of this center shows an image of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
